included on a "Love Your Neighbors" album - A celebration of songs
from the neighboring countries to the USA and other immigrant songs along with
some songs composed by us Yankees. I
hope we aren't being too political here because all political parties have some
good ideas and some bad ideas. However, loving your neighbors is something we
hope folks from all political parties and all countries try to achieve!
The Mexican Hat dance, also known as Jarabe Tapatío, is the
national dance of Mexico. It originated as a courtship dance in Guadalajara,
Jalisco, during the 19th century. However, some of its elements can be traced back to
the Spanish zambra and jarabe gitano.
The standard music of El Jarabe Tapatío was composed by
Jesús González Rubio in the 19th century.
The Square Dance Heroes have arranged and recorded El Jarabe Tapatío (The
Mexican Hat Dance) for your dancing and listening enjoyment!
