This is the second release of a series of singles / EPs that will be included on a "Love Your Neighbors" album - A celebration of songs from the neighboring countries to the USA and other immigrant songs along with some songs composed by us Yankees. We hope we aren't being too political here because all political parties have some good ideas and some bad ideas. However, loving your neighbors is something we hope folks from all political parties and all countries try to achieve!
The picture on the EP cover is from the hike up to the Stawamus Chief looking from up on the second peak down to the first peak. We hiked up here as part of a California to Canada Road Trip
The melody for the Celtic jigs I perform are original almost by accident. I wanted to play a song for Canada and I thought a jig would be nice. The traditional
Keltic jig Hills of Glenorchy is often played in Canada so I thought I'd play it. I listened to various versions and each one was different (fiddle tunes often end up like this). So I started to play it from memory. What I ended up playing was different from all the other versions I had listened to so I had my own tune. Also Glenorchy is in Scotland and there is a lot of Scottish culture and history linked into Canada. However, I wanted to have the title of my EP be about Canada. I changed the melody a bit more and added some substitution chord changes. Then I created a different theme (theme 2). So this is what I ended up with - hope you enjoy!
